National Atlas of the United States, U.S. Geological Survey
Online mapping tool with a broad range of variables, including geographic boundaries, federal and Indian lands, biological species, land cover, environmental data from the EPA, geology, health and demographics, and transportation routes. Most are available for download as GIS map layers.

Wetlands Interactive Mapper Tool, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Create maps using data from the National Wetlands Inventory. To see what the colors on the maps mean, identify a point and then click on the attribute text. This runs a program that interprets the attribute and gives a description. A Wetlands Attributes glossary will be available shortly.

Data include census data for household size, income, ethnicity, age, and more. Makes it easy to place maps in documents or to transfer your data from a spreadsheet to a map. National Gap Analysis Program, U.S. Geological Survey

National Geospatial Data Clearinghouse
Collection of over 100 data servers with geographic data primarily for use in GIS programs, image processing systems, and other modeling software.

A digital database of geographic features, such as roads, railroads, rivers, political boundaries, census statistical boundaries, etc. covering the entire United States. TIGER data can be used to produce maps ranging in detail from a neighborhood street map to a map of the U.S. Demographic statistics are not included.
